Tips on What to Consider Before Purchasing a New Bed

Research shows that we spend around 6 – 10 hours in our beds every day and accumulatively, this means we spend about a third of our lives in bed. Given such statistics, investing in a quality bed that is comfortable and grants you a restful slumber is the most sensible things to do.

Takes the necessary measures to care about your sleep health is essential. How you sleep directly affects your daily functions. If you do not get enough rest during your sleep, then you are most likely to be tired and grumpy during the day.

Are you experiencing difficulties sleeping? Do you spend the night tossing and turning in bed or wake up in the middle of the night with aches?

The reason for your woes could be attributed to the kind of mattress you use. The issues you have when you go to bed that keep you up at night can be resolved by changing your mattress and box spring. Take a look at the icomfort mattress range and see what is best for you.

When shopping for the best bed, you need to take into consideration a few things that will help you make the right choice.

Invest in Quality

Quality should be at the helm of the things to take into account when buying a new bed. First off, understand and appreciate the fact that you will be spending anywhere between 6 and 10 hours on the bed. Also, what you buy will be a long-term investment that should serve you for at least ten years before showing being spent. You will only get such a mattress if you take into consideration the quality of its construction.

A quality bed is a combination of a quality mattress that is placed on a quality base. That means the two work together to give a single unit that is perfect for your sleep needs. It also is prudent to mention that if you invest in quality, you inadvertently may also be investing in comfort.

In short, you are less likely to purchase a bed that feels comfortable if it is of a low-quality construction. Therefore, check the quality of the foam, futons, or springs used to make the matter. Do a similar assessment if you are thinking of buying a waterbed.

Ensure You Get Comfort

Comfort is the next thing to consider after you have checked the quality of the product you want to buy. The restful night that you yearn for can only be gained when you invest in a bed that feels comfortable.

Take the time to test the comforts the mattress has to offer the same way you did when checking the quality. Keep in mind that good quality regarding the materials does not necessarily mean a guarantee in comfort. It touches on the durability of the materials used to make the mattress.

Have a feel of the fabric and the density of the mattress. The material should not feel abrasive (rough) and the thickness of the mattress to be enough to support your body weight and curves. Remember that when investing in a bed, you are buying something that is meant to serve you for about ten years or more before losing its ability to support your body.

The bed should feel comfortable no matter with position your lie. Find the perfect buy worth adding to your bedroom, and you will be one step closer to overcoming your woes with insomnia. It may not be a cure, but it will play a significant role in addressing the problems you have with sleeping.

Consider Sleep Position

A soft mattress is an ideal choice if you tend or prefer sleeping on your tummy, and one that is a bit more firm is the best pick if you sleep on your back or your sides. Since the fetal position is the most common sleeping position, investing in a firm mattress is often the safest bet.

When at the retail store, test the mattress to have a feel of its density and the support it will provide. Lay on it for a few minutes in the sleep position you prefer to ensure that the mattress feels comfortable. If you share the bed, have your partner with you when trying out the bed. It will ensure that both of you find the mattress comfortable enough and none will feel disadvantaged.

If you are two of you and you see that you are rolling towards each other, then you should consider buying different a mattress that offers more support. But your pick should not be too hard nor too soft; it should have a density that provides ample support for your weight by molding to the contours of your bodies.

Take into Account the Bed Size

When thinking of the size to buy, you will have to consider two things. First, you need to decide if the bed is for one or should fit two people comfortably. The other things to factor into your decision making is the size of the room so that you do not have a bed that is too big to fit. However, the essential thing about what size to buy is to consider how much space you need for movement as you roll about in bed when sleeping.

If you are taller than the average person, then you should consider getting a bed whose length is ten centimetres longer than you. As for the width, you will need to decide if you something that is ideal for one person or two; and if it is for two, then it should have enough space to that the two of you do not feel cramped.

A small bedroom will restrict your choices. You cannot invest in a king size bed for such a room. In short, what you buy should have dimensions that will leave some space for you to get in and out of the bedroom, to access your closet or wardrobe, and to access the bathroom or to reach and open the doors and windows.

Given such standards, now you understand why there are no universal standards regarding bed sizes. As such, very term used in reference to a particular bed size is descriptive and not a measure of size.

For instance, there is no assurance that the different manufacturers will stick to a unified dimension when they use the term “King Size” for their products. Moreover, the imperial sizes and metric sizes tend to differ. As such, you should consult the retailer to understand the exact dimensions of the mattress and box spring you want to buy.

How to Find a Good Bed

Avoid making purchases in a rush. Do not be quick to buy the first thing you come across. You should do some research before you head out to get a new bed. Inquire from your friends and relatives about the products or brands they use.

You can as well, spend a night in a reputable hotel to have a feel of the mattresses they have. Also, talk with the retailers when at the store to know as much as you can about the brand you are thinking of buying and if there are other better options on offer. Price should come in third after quality and comfort.

Remember to try out the bed before making a purchase. Take your time to have a feel of how it is to that you are confident it will meet your needs and serve you for a long time. When going to shop for a new mattress, dress in light, comfy clothes that will not pose any issues for you or concerns for the retailer when you are testing the bed.

When trying out the bed, start by sitting on the edge and then bounce up and down on it before you proceed to lay and stretch yourself on the mattress. Rest on it for about 5 – 10 minutes before switching to your favorite sleep position.

If the store has issues with you trying out the bed, they are in the wrong business, and you should go to a store that understands the nature of such a business.
